Dubai’s Lost Chambers Aquarium: Touch, Explore, and Dive into Underwater Wonders

Finally, we made it to this aquarium! I had heard so many rave reviews about it and wanted to see it with my own eyes.

About the Aquarium

The Lost Chambers Aquarium is truly impressive in its beauty, uniqueness and scale — like so much else in Dubai!

It is located in Dubai on the artificial Palm Jumeirah peninsula, known as the Palm. The aquarium is part of a network of parks on the grounds of the Atlantis hotel. The Aquaventure water park, a dolphinarium and many different cafes and restaurants are also located there.

We arrived at the aquarium in the evening on a weekday. As it turned out, this is the best time to visit, both in terms of price and the number of other tourists. The aquarium was practically empty. Although we visited in January, which is considered high season in the Emirates. So keep in mind that by closing time, the tourists disappear and you can calmly look at all the fish and take beautiful photos against the transparent walls.

Tickets can be purchased either at the ticket office directly before your visit or on the official website. The price on the website is 5% cheaper, but we didn’t know that at the time, so we bought tickets at the ticket office. As I already mentioned, there were no queues or crowds, so getting tickets was not a problem.

We entered the aquarium through a gate designed to look like a shark’s jaw. The first aquarium at the entrance is a glass flask that you can walk around. Inside, a school of shiny fish swim in circles. There are a lot of fish, and they are constantly moving.

Then we went further along the corridors to other halls. The corridors themselves and all the aquariums are designed in the same style – sunken Atlantis. The aquariums contain fragments of columns and various ancient artefacts. In the large aquariums, you can see the remains of sunken ships and weapons. The walls of the halls are designed to make you feel like you are walking through the corridors of an ancient technological civilisation. You can even find the throne of the king of Atlantis and the armour of an ancient Atlantean, which is 3 metres high. All the details are well thought out, and you are completely immersed in the atmosphere.

And of course, the aquariums themselves are very interesting. It is especially cool to watch the fish through the giant glass panels: it feels like you are in the water yourself. Fish such as sharks, stingrays and manta rays live here. In the small aquariums, you can see moray eels, piranhas, lobsters and crabs.

There is a very beautiful aquarium with jellyfish. They are illuminated in a beautiful purple-blue colour, and the jellyfish themselves float so smoothly in their aquarium that you can meditate while watching them.

There is a special electronic panel next to each aquarium where you can find lots of interesting information about each fish. There is a menu in several languages, which is very convenient, especially for children — they can come up and find information themselves.
